The Kashmir police reported on Thursday morning that 2 terrorists, including a commander of the Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist group was killed in an encounter by security forces in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir's. Further report said, 3 soldiers are reported to got some minor injuries from the encounter.
According to the report of Inspector General of Police in Kashmir, the Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Yousuf Kantroo was involved in several killings of civilians and security personnel. These also include the recent killings in Budgam district of a Special Police Officer and his brother, one soldier and civilian.
The Kashmir police reported that arms and ammunition were recovered from the terrorists who were killed. A senior police official also said that there maybe three more terrorists are believed to be trapped in the area.
The encounter was conduct in the Malwa area of Baramulla district after a joint team of the police and army launched a cordon-and-search-operation after receiving news about the presence of the terrorist.
In the initial phase of the encounter, Kashmir police reported that three soldiers and a civilian were wounded.
The Kashmir police also said that the Police and Army are working together to control the situation and the operation will progress further.
