On Saturday a man was killed and three others were injured of a family when a battery of an electric scooter exploded in their house in Andhra Pradesh. The incident took place in Vijayawada early Saturday when the man had kept the battery for charging in the.

Shiva Kumar died and his wife and their two children sustained burn injuries.

Hearing their screams, neighbours came to rescue and transported them to a local hospital, where Shiva Kumar died while his wife is stated to be in a critical condition.

The man had reportedly purchased the electric scooter on Friday. This is the second e-scooter explosion incident in the Telugu states in less than a week.

The police registered a case under Indian Penal Code Section 304A  against the Pure EV, which issued a statement deeply regretting the incident and stated that it is cooperating with local police and seeking details.

The series of this electric vehicle incident has created concern over the safety of batteries of electric vehicles. Three Pure electric scooters and EV of some other manufacturers caught in fire in recent months.
